Parentage:  Golden Delicious crossed with Co-op 17

History at Three Springs: First planted for markets and cider in 2013

Originally 'Co-op 38', this versatile apple was developed by the PRI disease resistance breeding program - a joint effort betwen Purdue, Rutgers, and Illinois. This widely adapted selection is beloved by orchardists, apple eaters, and cider drinkers alike. The trees are good producers and provide natural resistance to many fungal and bacterial maladies. The fruit, especially when stored for a few weeks after harvest, are wonderful to eat as snacks and have proven very versatile in the kitchen as well. The rich acidity of their juice in cider provides happy returns for those who ferment it or enjoy it in brown jugs in the fall. A wonderful variety that's versatile and good-keeping.
