Homemade Applesauce

This recipe begins with about 7 Lodi apples.  If you have a food mill or sieve, you only need to rinse the apples and cut into quarters.  Remove core.  If not, rinse, peel, core, and cut into eighths.

Place apples into a 3-quart pan with about ½ cup of water or apple juice.  Simmer until apples are tender.  Watch carefully to avoid scorching.  If using a food mill, press apples now.  Add about ½ c. sugar (or to taste).  You may also use Splenda to sweeten.  Cinnamon may be added now or when served, if desired
